I didn't just do a knee-jerk post when I seen the picture, I thought about it for a bit, but I just can't think of a more plausible explanation for those lines burnt into the top two radios, other than they were laying across something hot as they melted, that made those marks. I'm looking at the top two radios, and the marks across them, and thinking they were laid on a grill. Currently we have 150 of these radios that we just purchased.Īny info or experiences on something like this would be appreciated.Ĭlick to expand.I don't think these radios burnt in the kitchen. My concern is that we have a number of supervisors that do the same thing with their radios plus we have a number of accounts that we have 20 plus radios that sit on the chargers when not in use. Has anyone experienced anything like this before or have any idea what could of caused this. I know the Li-ion batteries can catch on fire but not this style battery. These radios use a 7.2 Nickel-Metal Hydride battery. I know that the radios were not on the chargers because the chargers were not melted but the 4 radios were melted and stuck together. Thank god it wasn't much worse than some black soot on the wall. He went into his kitchen and found the radios on fire. He went to sleep and was awoken 4 or 5 hrs later to smoke alarms. A few nights ago one of our supervisors took his 4 radios home and set them on his kitchen counter.
We are a security company and some of our accounts don't have a place for us to keep our radios so the site Supervisor will take the radios home to charge. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola). The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request.
